TV tonight: 'Big Bang Theory,' 'Elementary,' 'Buckwild'

The Big Bang Theory
CBS, 8 ET/PT
One of TV's funniest comedies and most popular series makes its winter return with a great guest in tow: Regina King, playing the university's director of employee relations. She has her work cut out for her, as it seems there's been a claim of sexual harassment. And it's against Sheldon, of all unlikely and uncooperative people.
CBS, 10 ET/PT
CBS' lineup tonight also boasts the return of this entertaining Americanized Sherlock Holmes update starring Jonny Lee Miller as Sherlock and Lucy Liu as Watson. If you've been watching, you know Watson's stint as Sherlock's sobriety companion is coming to an end, which could also end her stint on the series. And if you've been watching, you know there's no way that's going to happen, as the byplay between Miller and Liu is the show's best asset. Odds are, tonight we'll get a hint as to how they're going to keep the play going.
MTV, 10 ET/PT
MTV has not made its latest booze-bums-and-boobs funfest available for preview, reasoning no doubt that most of the people who are paid to review such shows won't like it, and most of the people who like such shows won't care. It's not clear what the appeal of these salutes to youth run amok is - it can't be novelty, as they're all exactly the same - but as long as people keep watching, networks like MTV will continue to air shows that turn real people, with or without their knowing consent, into lower-life-form "others" placed on Earth for our amusement and contempt. Ponder, if you like, how long that can go on without exacting some sort of societal price.
